POSITION SUMMARY:

The Restorative Nursing Assistant (R.N.A.) works with residents needing restorative nursing measures to gain or to maintain their highest, possible, practical functioning level. Provides direct restorative care and delegated therapy tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assists residents in progressive mobility as ordered by physician which may include providing PROM and active ROM, special positioning techniques, bed mobility, ambulating, cones, splints, contracture care, assistive feeding devices / adaptive equipment, ADL specifics and training, bowel and bladder management, restorative dining, and bladder retraining, safety device application and release, and appropriate padding and wheelchair cushions.
  2. Documents in treatment records the resident’s performance and duration to meet the requirements of MDS 3.0, state and federal regulations.
  3. Completes weekly summaries identifying the current order and the resident’s performance.
  4. Attends monthly R.N.A. meetings to discuss the resident performance in the R.N.A. program.
  5. Attends resident care plan conferences and provides information to the IDT team of the residents ADL status.
  6. Provides care in accordance with the restorative aide assignment sheet.
  7. Sets up Care Center dining room for meals.
  8. Assists with feeding residents and records residents P.O. intake and fluid intake.
  9. Documents weekly and monthly residents weights.
  10. Assists in maintaining resident’s current level of function while promoting safety.
  11. Follows facility policies and procedures for management of infection control within the R.N.A. program.
  12. Communicates with Charge Nurse, DON, Program Director, and therapy staff of a resident’s decline and or improvement in the program.
  13. Assists podiatrist with residents.

NON ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Performs C.N.A. duties if requested by a Charge Nurse or Supervisor on an as needed basis.
  2. Attends in-service training and educational sessions as assigned.
  3. Operates computer and programs including other business office machines.
  4. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
  5. Maintain business/professional boundaries with all staff, management and outside vendors.
  6. Attends and participates in Department meetings.
  7. Complies with safety standards and ensures the safety, health and welfare of staff, residents, and guests at all times.
  8. Provides encouragement, guidance, and resources to staff and residents when needed.
  9. Adheres to company and departmental policies and procedures.
  10. Performs other related duties and special projects as needed assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Must have an active Certified Nursing Assistant certification with at least six months experience as a C.N.A.
  3. Must have valid Restorative Nursing Aide certification.
  4. Knowledge/experience of Point Care Click preferred.
  5. Must have basic computer skills.
  6. Must be at least 18 years old.
  7. Ability to read, write and communicate to residents, staff, families, vendors, and all business relationships in English language.
  8. Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, physical, and TB test.
  9. Must be able to communicate with all levels of staff in an effective, neutral and professional manner.
  10. Ability to function as a member of the team in a multi-task environment.
  11. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and changing conditions.
  12. Exhibits a special interest in the older adult and others requiring long term care.
