Activities Assistant



Under the direction of the Director of Activities, the Activities Assistant assists with implementation of a therapeutic activity program on a daily basis to meet the individual residents needs and interests.


To assist in the evaluation of each resident according to his background, interests, physical limitations and needs for the purpose of planning a meaningful program.

To assist in the implementation and upkeep of appropriate records which indicate resident’s attendance and participation in the program with reference to resident responses to the program.

To assist in the development of a method to implement programs within a designated budget allocated by the Administrator.

Be aware of current information regarding Federal and State regulations pertaining to activity programs.

Help to maintain program for effective utilization of community resources.

Work closely with Activities Director to carry out in room activity program.

Attend and participate at department meetings and inservice training programs.

Other duties as may be required or assigned.


Prefer experience working in senior/elder care
Prefer Activities experience in a Skilled Nursing Care/Retirement Center environment
MUST be 18 years of age or older.
The ability to read, write and communicate to residents, staff, families, vendors, and all business relationships in English language.
Must possess a valid photo ID.
Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, physical and TB test.
Must be able to provide valid employment authorization document for the Form I-9.
Must have a valid and current First Aide/CPR certification.
Must be able to communicate with all levels of staff in an effective, neutral and professional manner.
Ability to function as a member of the team in a multi-task environment.
Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and changing business conditions.
Must be computer literate in Word and Excel
